Went into the city to move forward on purchase of a car today and then across to Hout Bay, on the other side of Table Mountain.  Unfortunately, I forgot the camera at home :(  The road through the mountain pass is narrow, shoulderless, and a little high speed given the drops below and the traffic crossing the center line.  But the views were spectacular--mountains coming straight down to the sea, a dramatic sea today given the high NW winds.  The bay is, by contrast to the seas we passed on the way, protected and calm; and we stopped for lunch at a restaurant that took its inspiration from Fisherman's wharf in S.F.

Though I have no pictures from today's trip, I do have some of yesterday's whales, due to Bill's photo magic.  Both of these were taken from the balcony of our apartment.  In the one below you can see one whale spraying and a fin to the right and slightly below.  There are others under the surface if you can find them :)

The picture below was taken at sunset.  The whale is just about dead center and floating.  This one was pretty close to shore, almost in the surf, so it didn't have a lot of room to bounce around.  We did see others breaching through the afternoon, though we were too slow to catch them--phooey!

One piece of equipment we need ASAP is a set of binoculars.  And maybe a fancier camera!
